Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar- Rahim.
Allahumma solli 'ala sayyidina Muhammad wa 'alihi.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
We pray that this message finds you and your loved ones well, enveloped in Allah's mercy and traveling the path to felicity, in sha Allah.
The following is taken from Sayyidi Habib `Umar bin Hafiz’s Monthly Word for this month, Rabi` al-Thani 1432. It has been shortened and edited by Ustadh Amin Buxton (Allah preserve him and his teachers). You can read the full Arabic text at www.alhabibomar.com:
“Having bid farewell to the month in which our Prophet was born we should focus in this month on emulating him particularly in the area of looking after the poor and weak amongst us. This is his Sunna and his way (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family). The Ummah needs to work on this. Those who are financially able should support those in need. If this is neglected we fall prey to the enemy of Allah Iblis and his forces who exploit our weaknesses. One of his methods is to make the poor and needy envious of the wealthy.
Thus we need to look to the needs of individuals, to the needs of our relatives and neighbours, to the needs of families and communities and also those outside our communities. We should expend what we are able – whether it be du`a or financial support, giving a gift, paying a visit or any other kind of assistance. This will in turn strengthen our connection with our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), as this is the way of mercy and compassion which he called us to.”
Note: our teachers advise us to give even a small portion of charity every day. It is better that this be early in the day as charity prevents tribulation from descending.
A further reminder:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family, encouraged his Companions to fast three days in every month and informed them that in doing so they would be rewarded for fasting the whole year. He said, Allah bless him and grant him peace: The one who prays the Duha (midmorning) prayer, fasts three days in every month and does not leave the Witr prayer whether he is resident or travelling will have the reward of a shahid.”
In it there is purification of the heart and other benefits. He also encouraged them to fast the three “White Days” meaning the days which follow nights in which the moon is full, namely the 13th, 14th and 15th days of each lunar month. Sayyidi al-Habib `Umar encourages his students in Dar al-Mustafa to combine these two sunnahs and fast the three “White Days” of every month.
BarakAllahufikum
Was-salam,
